The Supreme Council of National Defence of Romania has made a decision to transfer a Patriot surface-to-air missile system to Ukraine, the Staff of the President of Romania said in a statement.
“Taking into account the marked deterioration of the security situation in Ukraine, as well as the consequences of this situation for the region, including for the security of Romania, in agreement with the allies, the members of the Council have decided to transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine,” reads the statement.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that his country has only a quarter of the air defense systems necessary.
