NATO confirms new secretary general
NATO ambassadors confirmed Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte as the secretary general of the alliance, AFP news agency reported on June 26, citing the alliance.
“NATO appoints Dutch Prime Minister Rutte as the next head of the alliance,” the news agency said in an X post.
According to the Dutch NRK news agency, Rutte said a long time ago that he preferred to deal with the politics of his country. It is also reported that Rutte had previously expressed an opinion that the new head of NATO would be a woman.
