Konstantin Zatulin: Nikol Pashinyan not only does not need Karabakh, but it also “harms him in terms of internal politics”

The statement of Armen Grigoryan, the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, about the alleged “cession” of Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan by Russia is a blatant lie, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma for the CIS and Relations with Russian Nationals Abroad Konstantin Zatulin said.

“Grigoryan is a more ardent Russophobe than his boss, Nikol Pashinyan, and in some cases, he predicts or announces things that are on the mind of his boss,” Zatulin noted.

According to him, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan not only does not need Artsakh, but it also “harms him in terms of internal politics”, so he preferred to follow the example of his Western friends.

“He has placed the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh in a difficult situation. It was perhaps the prerequisite for his new friendship with the West, because the West does not need Russian peacekeepers, like it does not need the CSTO membership or the presence of a Russian base in Gyumri. Apparently, these are the problems to come, and Mr. Pashinyan and his supporters do not hide it at all,” Zatulin noted.
