Russia is ready to follow the path of restoration of diplomatic relations with Georgia and supports such initiatives from Tbilisi, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing.
“The Russian side takes as a basis the fact that the normalization of relations will be in the interests of both peoples,” Zakharova noted.
Earlier, the Solidarity for Peace party of Georgia appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, asking to cancel the visa regime between the states.
