Iran’s snap presidential election launched after supreme leader casts ballot

Casting a ballot at 8:00 a.m. Tehran time (8:30 a.m. Yerevan time) this morning, Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, announced the launch of Iran’s 14th presidential election, Irna news agency reports.

The polls opened at 8:00 a.m. Tehran time.

In the 14th presidential election 61,452,321 people are eligible to vote.

Four candidates are involved in the presidential race, namely reformist Masoud Pezeshkian and conservatives Mostafa Pourmohammadi, Saeed Jalili and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
