Peskov: Russia hopes to get explanation from Pashinyan for his statement on “diversifying relations in the security sector”
As far as the relations with Yerevan are concerned, Moscow
expects to learn what Nikol Pashinyan meant when he talked about “diversifying
relations in the security sector”. Spokesperson for the Russian president
Dmitry Peskov said this.
Earlier, in an interview to The Wall Street Journal,
Pashinyan noted that in the wake of the Artsakh events, Yerevan sees necessity
to diversify relations in the security sector.
“We do not consider The Wall Street Journal a primary
source. Thus, we still need to find out what Mr. Pashinyan meant. We expect to
get full information on this. And of course, Russia and Armenia had better not
communicate through newspapers, especially when it is the Wall Street Journal.
Thus, we keep being engaged in dialogue with our Armenian partners and will
keep doing so as we have a fairly full agenda,” Peskov said.
He also noted that the Russian side keeps working toward
reaching agreement on the peace treaty.
