Cave discovered on Moon could be base for humans

According to the results of research published in a scientific journal, scientists have found a cave on the Moon, which can protect people from harsh weather conditions on the Moon and where a permanent lunar base can be built.

Several potential underground pits have been discovered on the surface of the Moon. These pits are of great interest in terms of potential future habitation.

The research was carried out by a group of scientists from the U.S. and Italy. The analysis of data collected by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) shows that the Mare Tranquillitatis, the deepest known skylight on the Moon, leads to a cave about 45 meters wide and about 77 meters long. The cave is located approximately 150 meters below the surface.

In addition, more than 200 pits have been found at different latitudes of the Moon, but it is not yet clear if any of them could be a cave.
