Japan to allocate $3.3 billion to Ukraine

The Japanese Government plans to allocate about ¥520 billion ($3.3 billion by the current exchange rate) to Ukraine, using the profits from Russia’s frozen assets, Japanese news agency Kyodo News reports.

The Japanese authorities are working on the implementation mechanisms of that plan. It is expected to be implemented by the end of the year. This amount makes about 6% of the total aid previously agreed by the Group of Seven (G7).

According to the news agency, the funds provided by Japan will not be used for military purposes and will be intended mainly for the reconstruction of infrastructure in Ukraine.
