Russia can supply Iran with 300 million cubic meters of gas per day
According to the recently signed memorandum, Russia will supply Iran with 300 million cubic meters of gas per day (109 billion cubic meters per year) to Iran. According to Armenpress, Iranian news agencies Shana and Irna reported this, referring to Javad Owji, the country’s minister of Petroleum.
He noted that a large volume of Russian gas will be supplied to Iran for domestic consumption and for its neighboring countries. Moreover, the minister did not clarify to which countries the “blue” fuel received from Russia would be sent. Owji also said that the Russian side will cover the costs of the construction of the gas pipeline to be stretched from the north to the south of the country.
The Iranian minister called the signed memorandum a masterpiece of energy diplomacy, which can create prerequisites for an economic revolution and ensure energy security in the region with the help of Iran.
On June 26, Russia’s Gazprom signed a strategic memorandum with the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) regarding the organization of gas supply works.
