German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed his support for inviting Russia to the next peace conference on Ukraine. As Deutsche Welle writes, Scholz said this at a pre-election event of the Social Democratic Party of Germany in Dresden.
“There have already been many discussions on this issue, the last time in Switzerland, where many countries gathered. And I am very happy that the president of Ukraine also wants Russia to be present at the next meeting,” Scholz noted.
The head of the German government said that Berlin should and will support Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
He added that at the same time, they should strive for peace by supporting peace talks, but not through the capitulation of Ukraine.
