Geyser explodes in US Yellowstone National Park

A powerful hydrothermal explosion took place in Yellowstone National Park, U.S. Mud and rock fragments ejected from the geyser. After the explosion, the steam made the area of the blast fully invisible. According to early reports, no casualties were caused.

As the press service of the park explained, a part of the Biscuit Basin area was temporarily closed to visitors following the geyser explosion. It will be opened when the crew deems it safe. The eruption did not affect the volcanic system.

Yellowstone National Park is located in the U.S. states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. It is home to numerous geysers and other geothermal plants, as well as the largest volcanic system in North America, the Yellowstone Caldera, which was formed by an eruption 630,000 years ago.
