Fishing vessel sinks in the Atlantic causing deaths

At least six people have been reported dead after a fishing vessel called the Argos Georgia experienced “uncontrolled flooding” in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. As The Guardian reports, seven people are still missing.

The Saint Helena-flagged vessel issued a distress call of “uncontrolled flooding” on the evening of July 22. At that time, it was about 200 nautical miles (229 miles) east of the Falkland Islands capital, Stanley. According to early reports, among the 27 crew members were 10 Spanish citizens, including the captain, as well as Russian, Indonesian, Uruguayan and Peruvian crew members. As noted, 14 people have been rescued.

The Argos Georgia, which is managed by Argos Froyanes Ltd, a privately-owned joint British-Norwegian company, left the port of Stanley on the evening of July 21 for the South Atlantic fishing region.
