Armenia and Iran have discussed the prospect of building a
new bridge across the Armenian-Iranian border. As Armenpress reports, Iranian
Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash said this.
Bazrpash said that the Iranian side is ready to share its
wide experience in infrastructure construction with friendly Armenia, thus
stimulating the process of the North-South Highway construction. According to
the Iranian minister, the existing bridge between Armenia and Azerbaijan can no
longer meet the increasing trade volumes between Armenia and Iran. Thus, Tehran
is considering the possibility of building a new bridge. To that end, an
agreement has been reached with the Armenian side to set up a working
group.
Mehrdad Bazrpash also noted that they had quite fruitful
discussions with the Armenian side, reaching serious agreements on the
construction of the North-South road.
