Why has the RA government not declared a day of mourning in
memory of the victims of the last Artsakh war and those of the blast in the
fuel depot, or at least have not announced such an intention? Former State
Minister of Artsakh Artak Beglaryan made a Facebook post on this.
He noted that such an appalling tragedy — when about 500
people have been killed, let alone the fact of the complete displacement of the
people of Artsakh — gives valid grounds to declare a mourning day.
“However the amount of pain and suffering surrounding us,
the observance of such memorial days or the failure to do so shows the
authorities’ attitude in that regard.
In my opinion, Oct. 29, the 40th day of the war, was the
last chance to declare a day of mourning, which I think should be declared for
three days.
I would like to note that in August 2022 a two-day mourning
was declared in memory of the victims of the blast in Surmalu trade center. The
scale of this tragedy was relatively smaller as compared to the current
situation,” Beglaryan wrote.
