At least 300 people killed in Bangladesh riots

At least 300 people were killed in the wave of riots in Bangladesh, 94 of them on Sunday, AFP reports, citing the police, doctors and authorities.

“Sunday became the deadliest day of anti-government demonstrations,” the news agency noted.

The protests started in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, and spread across the country. The protests were led by a student movement. The actions escalated into riots and were accompanied by clashes.

The government of Bangladesh imposed a curfew in Dhaka and other cities of the country at 6:00 p.m. local time.
