Armenia’s 1st medal, Djokovic’s championship: Olympic news recapped

Aug. 4 was the ninth day of the ongoing 2024 Summer Olympics; the day proved rather eventful.

First, Armenia won the first medal in these Olympic Games. In the finals of the pole vault gymnastics exercise, our athlete, 2020 Olympic bronze medalist Artur Davtyan, became the runner-up.

The central event of the day was the men’s tennis singles final. Here again, experience and youth met each other: 37-year-old Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic met his main rival of recent years, 21-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic, more experienced, won 7-6, 7-6 in a rather difficult fight, becoming the Olympic champion for the first time in his career and securing all the possible titles of his career.
