Five civilians were killed in the Sarnaghbyur village of
Askeran Province. Three of them were schoolchildren who were at school at that
moment. Former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Director of the Center for Law
and Justice “Tatoyan” Foundation Arman Tatoyan said this at his press
conference.
He noted that two of the children were brothers: eight- and
10-year-old boys.
Presenting the Azerbaijani attack directions on the map,
Tatoyan showed that Azerbaijan had encircled the settlements.
“Those who did not manage to leave the villages, were either
taken captive or killed. Thus, the possibility of people voluntarily leaving
their homes cannot be considered,” Tatoyan said, recalling the cases in
Getavan, where civilians were killed, injured and captured.
As Tatoyan noted, people were given from half to one hour to
flee, and the general picture shows that the Azerbaijani troops had simply
driven people into a corner and made them head for the “exit”.
