US sends submarine to Middle East amid rising tensions
The US has sent a guided missile submarine to the Middle East, as tensions grow in the region, the BBC writes.
The move comes in response to fears of a wider regional conflict, after the recent assassination of senior Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.
U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said the U.S. would “take every possible step” to defend its ally.
To remind, Iran blames Israel for the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and has vowed to punish. However, Israel has not made an official comment regarding the murder.
The Pentagon ordered the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, which is carrying F-35C fighter jets, to accelerate its journey to the region.
