At least 477 of the 564 schools in the Gaza Strip have been shelled and destroyed throughout the conflict between Israel and Palestinian Hamas, the U.N. OCHA in the Occupied Palestinian Territory said in a report.
According to the OCHA data, 344 of the mentioned educational institutions were directly hit, and 133 were seriously damaged in the hostilities in their surroundings. These include 264 public schools, 57 private schools and 156 UNRWA schools.
The report says, according to the Palestinian Civil Defence (PCD), some 180 schools serving as shelters of displaced people have been directly hit since October 2023.
