The 33rd Summer Olympics ended on Aug. 11. On the penultimate day, Aug. 10, Armenia won its last medal in the weightlifting super heavyweight category. Reigning European champion Varazdat Lalayan had a real fight with the Olympic champion and world and Olympic record holder, Lasha Talakhadze, but still lost to him by 3 kg in the total, becoming an Olympic runner-up. The former leader of the Armenian team, now representing Bahrain, Gor Minasyan, won bronze, taking first place in the snatch and leaving behind Talakhadze and Lalayan. However, the latter were stronger in the clean and jerk.
