General strike begins in Israel demanding Gaza hostage deal

A general strike has begun in Israel after protests against the government’s failure to release hostages kept by Hamas, the BBC writes.

Histadrut—one of the country’s most powerful unions—announced the one-day strike. Flights at Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport were disrupted after the strike began at 8:00 a.m. local time.
