Since Sept. 1, mass protests have been taking place in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other major cities of Israel. Hundreds of thousands of people are taking to the streets across the country to demand that the government open talks with Hamas to rescue the remaining 100 hostages captured by Hamas in the Oct. 7 attack.
On Aug. 31, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) found the bodies of six hostages in an underground tunnel near the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
The hostages were killed shortly before the Israeli troops reached the territory.
The next day, people took to the streets, demanding an immediate deal with Hamas. However, the government does not intend to make concessions during the negotiations with the Palestinians. According to Israeli media, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a meeting with ministers that Israel “must continue its military operations in Gaza”.
