The European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on the EU countries to immediately lift all restrictions on the Ukrainian army’s deep attacks on Russian territories.
Four hundred and twenty-five deputies voted for the document, 131 against it, and 63 abstained. The document stated that the European Parliament “calls on” the EU countries to immediately lift the restrictions on arms supplied to Ukraine against “legitimate military targets” on Russian territory. As an explanation of this position, it is noted that such a ban “impedes Kyiv’s ability to fully exercise its right to self-defense in accordance with international law and also makes Ukraine vulnerable”.
The European Parliament resolution has a consultative nature and does not oblige the institutions of the EU or EU countries to implement it.
Members of the European Parliament also called for new sanctions against Iran and North Korea.
