Russian-Armenian businessman, Former State Minister of
Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan was the first official arrested by the Azerbaijani
authorities from the Lachin corridor on Sept. 26. Afterward, by court decision,
Vardanyan was remanded in custody for four months. A few days ago, the Baku
Court of Appeal rejected the request to change the preventive measure imposed
on Vardanyan. NEWS.am’s correspondent spoke with Vardanyan’s son, Davit
Vardanyan.
– Do you have any information about Ruben Vardanyan? Did you
manage to contact him?
-Yes, he gave my mom a call yesterday and last Tuesday. I
was not there at that moment. If I am not mistaken, the conversation was rather
short. He said that he was well. They did not talk about anything else. He said
that he misses us. And we miss him.
-Didn’t he want to communicate any information?
-As far as I know, no. He just asked us to take care of all
those who are suffering because of the current situation.
-Did the ICRC delegates visit him?
-I have no such information. What I know is that the ICRC
delegates contacted my mother and said that they want to get in touch with my
father and the others.
