A number of temporary and permanent observation posts of the
Russian peacekeeping contingent have already been dismantled. We are discussing
the major issues regarding our peacekeepers with Baku. Russian Foreign Ministry
Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said this at her press briefing.
According to her, the conditions under which the Russian
peacekeeping contingent was stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020 have
fundamentally changed. Thus, their activities will be adapted to the new
conditions.
“The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh has significantly changed
over the last year. In October 2022, under the auspices of the EU in Prague,
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as
Azerbaijani territory. He reaffirmed his position at the Brussels summits in
May and June of this year,” Zakharova noted.
