Tigran Avinyan from the Civil Contract Party has been
elected mayor in the first session of the newly elected Yerevan Council of
Elders. Avinyan was the only candidate for the post.
The Civil Contract Party, the Hanrapetutyun (“Republic”)
Party and the Public Voice Party attended the session. Thus, 37 members were
present.
Thirty-two members voted for Avinyan, and five
against.
The Mother Armenia Alliance headed by Andranik Tevanyan and
the National Progress Party of Armenia headed by Hayk Marutyan boycotted the
session.
