Helene to be followed by Milton: Another hurricane to hit Florida in 10 days
Hurricane Milton is threatening the U.S. state of Florida. The state was already affected by the devastating Hurricane Helene that came on Sept. 26, killing more than 200 people and causing billions of dollars in damage in six states.
Hurricane Milton is now approaching the coast of Florida with winds of up to 289 km/h.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Milton became the third-fastest-strengthening hurricane in Atlantic history. It went from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane in less than 24 hours.
The storm is expected to make landfall on Wednesday evening. According to forecasts, its center will be the Tampa Bay area, home to more than three million people. After landfall, the storm is supposed to weaken to some extent but will increase in area, maintaining its destructive power.
