EU imposes new sanctions against Iran
The European Union will impose new sanctions against Iran for allegedly supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, press agency DPA writes, citing EU diplomatic sources.
The diplomats announced this after the relevant decision of the EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg. The restrictions, according to DPA, should affect companies, institutions and individuals involved in the production and supply of these weapons.
The relevant names will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). Businessmen will no longer be allowed to do business with companies and individuals under sanctions. Additionally, their assets in the EU will be frozen, and entry into the EU territory will be banned.
According to the press agency, the EU has repeatedly warned Iran not to transfer ballistic missiles to Russia. The EU, like the U.S. and the U.K., assume that these weapons will be used in the conflict in Ukraine.
The EU also imposed sanctions against Iran Air and two other Iranian airlines.
