U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres has accepted the invitation of the Azerbaijani government to attend COP29 and is preparing for the upcoming visit, Florencia Soto Nino, associate spokesperson for the secretary-general, said.
Guterres will participate in the opening ceremony of COP29. The conference, which will take place under the presidency of Azerbaijan, will be held from Nov. 11 to Nov. 22 of this year.
“It is planned that the secretary-general will leave for another official visit after having participated in high-level events and discussions on the margins of COP29, after which he will return to Baku to attend the closing ceremony of COP29,” the press officer said.
