There is no order in the world anymore: Discussion at Genesis Armenia

Before making references to the West, we need to understand what we need from the West and what the West needs. The words “West” and “East” should not be uttered without understanding the logic and content, political scientist Stepan Danielyan said at Genesis Armenia Think Tank/Foundation’s discussion on the parliamentary election to be held in Georgia.

“There are various problems today. Yes, we are sitting on a powder keg, and not only us. The whole world is in danger because there is no international order; there should be a new order with new principles. Recently, there was a very strange public conversation between Richard Moore and the head of the Central Intelligence Agency: the first unprecedented announcement was made, where they said there is no order in the world anymore,” Danielyan said.

Countering the political scientist, Hasmik Meliksetyan, expert on Georgian Studies, noted that as long as there are no alternatives to NATO and the EU, a number of countries seek to join these organizations.

“Those countries connect their economic and security development with involvement in these organizations,”Meliksetyan said.

Danielyan asked Meliksetyan whether NATO and the EU are capable of making a decision or not. According to him, if they are not capable, a consolidated country, for example, Russia, China or Turkey, acts more effectively.

“With regard to NATO, when Finland’s and Sweden’s membership was being considered, we remember what complications the process had due to Turkey’s demands? In other words, when the situation gets complicated and the world gets mixed up, individual states, especially dictatorial ones, act more effectively,” Danielyan noted.
