Tehran is in favor of opening transport communications in the region with consideration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani told the reporters during a three-day expert conference entitled “Armenia-Iran: The Course of Cooperation and New Perspectives”.
According to him, Iran’s stance regarding the so-called “Zangezur corridor” is clear: the Iranian side is against any geopolitical changes and corridor logic.
“The relations between Iran and Armenia have a clear basis; we are neighbors who have been living side by side for centuries and have very good neighborly relations. And I don’t think that someone will do anything against the interests of the people of both countries,” Sobhani said.
He noted that previously, bilateral relations also used to develop without the influence of external factors. Tehran is convinced that relations with Yerevan will continue to develop in the spirit of bilateral cooperation, which is not affected by external factors.
