German chancellor cancels participation in COP29

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz canceled his participation in Baku’s COP29 due to political tensions in Germany, Bloomberg reports.

He is fighting a domestic political crisis, deepening the vacuum of European leadership in this year’s negotiations.

COP29 will be held in Baku on Nov. 11–22.
