Former congressman and businessman will save America, according to Trump

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, has announced key appointments for his new administration, including the heads of the Pentagon and the CIA. Businessmen Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will jointly lead a newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Trump announced the nomination of the Fox News host and combat veteran Pete Hegseth to be his defense secretary and named John Ratcliffe–a former Texas congressman and federal prosecutor–to lead the CIA.  “Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First,” Trump said in a statement.

“With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice-our military will be great again, and America will never back down,” Trump said. Regarding Ratcliffe, a former congressman from Texas, Trump said he “has always been an advocate for truth and integrity.”

Trump has proposed that businessman Elon Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy work together to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency. “These two great Americans will pave the way for my administration to eliminate government bureaucracy, reduce unnecessary regulations, cut wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies that are essential to the ‘Save America’ movement,” Trump said.

It is also known that Musk and Ramaswamy will carry out this work until July 2026. It remains unclear whether their terms will end after that date.
