Media: Biden has allowed Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike Russia

U.S. President Joe Biden has authorized the first use of U.S.-supplied long-range missiles by Ukraine for strikes inside Russia, The New York Times writes, citing anonymous sources within the U.S. administration.

According to the newspaper’s sources, the missiles in question are ATACMS.

This decision marks a significant shift in U.S. foreign policy. Biden approved it two months before Donald Trump will assume office after winning the U.S. presidential election. Trump had previously stated his intention to limit support for Ukraine.

Officials note that Biden’s decision is related to information regarding the alleged presence of North Korean forces in the Kursk region. The newspaper notes that this has created a “necessity to strengthen the defense of Ukrainian troops.”

Earlier, Russia pointed out that the U.S. has not confirmed the alleged presence of North Korean military personnel in the area of the special military operation. North Korea’s accusations have been referred to as “dirty tricks” by the U.S. and its allies, aimed at covering up their own crimes and prolonging the conflict in Ukraine.
