US congressman forced to leave Azerbaijan
American Congressman Frank Pallone has left Azerbaijan due to a negative attitude toward him, Azerbaijani media reports.
Pallone arrived in Baku to participate in the COP29 climate conference. On Nov. 16, President Ilham Aliyev met with a group of American congressmen, but Pallone was not allowed to attend the meeting. The congressman previously visited Artsakh and called for sanctions against Baku.
On Nov. 17, a group of pro-government Azerbaijani civil society organizations held a protest outside the Park Boulevard hotel where the congressman was staying, demanding accountability for his “anti-Azerbaijani activities.”
Reports indicate that Pallone left the hotel in the morning and arrived at the airport to depart from Baku on a special charter flight.
