CSTO secretary general: An important document will be adopted at the meeting in Astana
CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov stated in an interview with CTV that the CSTO is not an aggressive alliance. According to him, the organization’s mission is to protect the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of its member states.
The secretary general announced that a very important document will be adopted at the Collective Security Council this year. “This is a targeted intergovernmental project for the development of the Tajik-Afghan border, as Afghan issues are among the current priorities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s activities.
What Afghanistan means for Central Asia, you know well. Although the situation seems to have stabilized, there are still quite a few terrorist organizations operating in Afghanistan, and of course, the issue is very serious. The signing of this project will certainly allow the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to jointly develop this section of the border and thereby ensure, first and foremost, the security of Central Asian countries.”
