Georgian Parliament declares ‘yellow’ security level ahead of inaugural session
At 12:00 p.m. local time today, the first session of the 11th convocation of the Georgian Parliament will take place. According to Georgian media reports, a “yellow” security level has been implemented in the parliament.
This means that access to the building will be restricted to ensure the safety of lawmakers and staff. The restrictions will not apply to accredited journalists.
To remind, large-scale protests are taking place in Georgia, with the opposition disagreeing with the results of the recent parliamentary elections and demanding new elections. People participating in the protests have camped near the Parliament building and have blocked streets. Georgian media reports that security forces have cordoned off the Parliament building with all possible means, including the deployment of water cannons, buses, and tow trucks.
