Tasmagambetov: Russia has not requested assistance from the CSTO
Russia has not yet requested assistance from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in connection with the ATACMS strikes on its territory, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said in an interview with TASS.
“Assistance within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, including military assistance, is provided at the request of the participating state. As you know, this provision of the treaty has already been applied,” Tasmagambetov stated.
He noted that there is no specific point on the agenda for the CSTO meeting regarding the ATACMS strikes on Russia. However, the countries will discuss the situation in the CSTO’s area of responsibility, which encompasses all three regions under the organization’s jurisdiction: Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.
“Of course, the heads of state will discuss the full range of issues related to ensuring the security of CSTO member states in current conditions,” the organization’s secretary general said.
