Russian Foreign Intelligence Service: The US has begun to promote pro-Western parties in Armenia
The U․S․ Department of State has started considering how to prevent Yerevan from straying from the so-called democratic path, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said in a statement.
“The Americans are thinking about how to ensure that Yerevan does not deviate from the so-called democratic course. They see the solution in ‘strengthening’ the ‘less reliable segments’ of the current Armenian authorities through their tried-and-true proxies.
Such globalist democratization circles for the U.S. are Aram Sargsyan’s Hanrapetutyun Party, Arman Babajanyan’s For the Republic Party, Tigran Khzmalyan’s European Party of Armenia, and Levon Shirinyan’s Christian-Democratic Rebirth Party,” the agency stated.
As noted, the United States has already begun promoting pro-Western parties in Armenia with the aim of securing their entry into parliament in the 2026 elections.
“The task assigned to these uncompromising advocates of democracy is to ‘stand in the way’ of the executive power of Armenia, should it—following the example of the neighboring Georgian government—decide to prioritize national objective interests, traditions, and values,” reads the statement.
