EU to discuss ways to pressure Georgia
On Dec. 17, the heads of foreign policy departments of EU countries will discuss ways to intervene in the situation in Georgia and methods of pressure, including the imposition of sanctions and the possibility of restricting the visa-free regime. This was announced by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna upon arrival at the NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting. Tsahkna described the parliamentary elections held in Georgia in October as “illegal and unfair.” In turn, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis stated that the new head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, is already preparing proposals for the European Commission regarding possible “options” to pressure Tbilisi to return to the path of EU accession.
