UN Security Council to hold emergency meeting
The U.N. Security Council will hold a closed emergency meeting on Dec. 9 to discuss the situation in Syria following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s government and his departure from the country, France24 writes.
Dmitry Polyanskiy, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the U.N., stated that the emergency meeting was called at Russia’s initiative.
The meeting is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. New York time.
