Peskov comments on Israeli military actions in Syria

Spokesperson for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said in a press briefing that Israel’s strikes on Syria are unlikely to help stabilize the situation in the country. Peskov expressed hope that the situation in Syria would soon be resolved.

According to TASS, Peskov noted that the strikes in the Golan Heights and the buffer zone are unlikely to contribute to stabilizing an already unstable Syria. “We would certainly like to see a swift stabilization of the situation in the country so that we can eventually achieve some prospects for bringing the situation into a legal framework,” Peskov said.

He added that the Kremlin is closely monitoring the situation in Syria. According to him, Moscow maintains contact with those who control the situation there following the downfall of Bashar al-Assad. Peskov clarified that this is necessary due to the presence of Russian military bases in the region.
