Georgia not to respond to sanctions by Estonia and Lithuania
Georgia will not retaliate against the sanctions imposed by Estonia and Lithuania, the Georgian government said in a statement.
“While the Georgian government has the right and capability to take countermeasures against the anti-Georgian decisions made by the governments of Estonia and Lithuania, out of respect for the people of these countries, we do not find such steps to be appropriate. Estonia and Lithuania are those states within the EU that have the most limited sovereignty today, and their governments act not in the interests of their own people but under the dictates of foreign administrations,” reads the statement.
To remind, Estonia and Lithuania have imposed sanctions on 14 Georgian officials, including Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
