Orbán: Trump will take steps to resolve the situation in Ukraine after his inauguration
It is simply unrealistic to expect that Donald Trump will take any steps toward resolving the situation in Ukraine before he assumes the office of U.S. President; however, decisions could follow within the first 24 hours after his inauguration on Jan. 20, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a press conference in Budapest.
Orbán noted that after Trump’s victory in the elections, he met with him at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, but the conversation was private since the president-elect cannot yet act on behalf of his state. In this regard, it is not possible to expect any official step from him regarding the resolution of the situation in Ukraine, including negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Orbán clarified. “I think that is simply unrealistic,” he said.
“But when he takes office, we will see what happens in the first 24 hours,” the prime minister of Hungary said.
