Aliyev: Armenia’s large-scale militarization could disrupt peace

Armenia’s large-scale and accelerated militarization, along with the supply of deadly weapons to the country, could undermine the peace that is possible to be established, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated in his New Year’s message.

Aliyev noted that the South Caucasus must become a region of peace, stability, and cooperation.

“It is always important to consider Armenia’s aggressive policies and essence. Therefore, I see it as my duty to once again warn the leadership of Armenia to avoid this dangerous path,” the Azerbaijani president remarked, adding that “Armenia is incapable of competing with us, neither militarily nor in any other field.”

Baku says “Armenia must abandon its policy of militarization,” warning that “this must end before it is too late.”
