Aliyev’s cousin arrested in Greece

Ilham Aliyev’s cousin has been arrested near Athens; drugs were found in her possession, the Athens police reports.

The Greek police reported that on Monday, 13 people were arrested in one of the luxurious villas in the town of Kalivia. Although the police did not disclose names, according to media reports, one of those arrested is Izat Khanim Javadova, who holds British citizenship.

An anonymous source of the police confirmed that she is among the arrested individuals.

According to the police, Aliyev’s cousin was found in the bedroom of the villa, where 45 packages of various drugs and a fireproof safe containing 43,000 euros were also discovered.

She, along with nine others, will appear before the court on Thursday to face charges of illegal drug trafficking and use, the source added.
