Russian gas supply halted in Ukraine

The transit of Russian gas through Ukraine has been halted due to “national security interests,” Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy stated.

“We have stopped the transit of Russian gas; this is a historic event. Russia is losing markets, and it will sustain financial losses. Europe has already made the decision to abandon Russian gas,” Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.

Earlier, Gazprom announced that gas transit had been suspended, citing the lack of “technical and legal feasibility” for continuing the process.
