Damascus Airport to resume operations
The head of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has announced that Damascus International Airport will resume accepting and making international flights starting Jan. 7.
It was reported on Dec. 22 that Damascus International Airport continues its operations of receiving and sending aircraft based solely on special permits from the government authority responsible for civil aviation.
On Dec. 8, the Syrian opposition took control of the country’s capital. On the same day, airports in Syria were temporarily closed. On Dec. 13, the country’s two main airports, namely the ones in Damascus and Aleppo, resumed receiving and sending foreign aircraft, but only with special permissions.
