Global Firepower: Among the neighboring countries, the Armenian Army surpasses only Georgia in its strength
The American analytical company Global Firepower has published a ranking of the world’s most powerful armies for 2025, which includes 145 countries. When making the ranking, the authors took into account a number of criteria, including military forces, the number of soldiers, the military budget, air and naval power, logistical capabilities, technological progress and about six dozen other criteria.
Armenia has significantly improved its position compared to the previous year. If in 2024 the country was 102nd, this year it took 91st place in the rating, with a power index of 2.0373 (0.0000 points are considered “perfect”). Among neighboring states, the Azerbaijani army has been falling for the second year in a row. In 2023, it was in 57th place, in 2024 – 59th, and in 2025 – 60th. Turkey is in 9th place, Iran is 16th, and Georgia is 94th.
The United States ranked first in the list of countries with the strongest armies, followed by Russia and China.
