Kremlin responds to upcoming Armenia-US strategic partnership agreement

The development of a strategic partnership between Armenia and the United States is a sovereign right of Yerevan, Spokesperson for Russian President Dmitry Peskov said.

“Developing relations with all countries, including the United States, is Armenia’s sovereign right. Russia intends to build its relations with Armenia,” Peskov said, while noting that the U.S. has never played a stabilizing role in the South Caucasus; rather, it has been quite the opposite.

He added that Russia values its bilateral relations with Armenia, which are precious to the Russian state. According to Peskov, the most important aspect is the integration processes within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

To remind, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will sign a document on the Armenia-U.S. strategic partnership today in Washington.
